The Great Gatsby (Australian premiere, May 22)

Event: The Great Gatsby Australian premiere
Location: Hoyts Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park
Date: Wednesday, May 22, 2013
Time: 6.45pm screening
How:

1. buy Hoyts tickets here and get a chance to attend the premiere
2. buy 3D / Vmax / Gold Class eVent Cinemas tickets here to get a chance to attend the press conference / Q& A session
3. Join us fans at the red carpet!
Red Carpet: YES, possibly 6pm but come early because this is going to be huge.

Get a chance to get your pictures taken with Leonardo DiCaprio (editor's note: Leo's attendance has been canceled due to French supermodels last minute change in schedule) Tobey Maguire (have you forgiven him for Spiderman 3?), Carey Mulligan (An Education, Never Let Me Go, Shame - she has good agents), Joel Edgerton (Star Wars), Elizabeth Debicki, director Baz Luhrmann and costume designer Catherine Martin. As of now, Isla Fisher, who plays Myrtle, is not scheduled to attend the premiere.

From everybody's favorite required reading in English literature class and the director responsible for Australia but would rather be remembered for Moulin Rouge, comes a movie that has been on 'coming soon' list since last year. Adapted from F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel and set in the 1920's, the movie recounts the story of the enigmatic Jay Gatsby and idealist Nick Carraway, arguably the original bromance.

Shot in 3D, The Great Gatsby promises visual feast of the hedonistic era. Unlike other classic novel adaptation, the soundtrack is scored by Jay Z and features Beyoncé, Lana del Ray, Will.i.am and Gotye. Is anyone else excited to see this beautiful mess? We certainly are!

Now it's time to pick up the book, brush up on the plot and pretend that it's your most favorite book ever.

Sushi, so are we! We'd be covering the red carpet event so keep an eye on our twitter / Instagram (@sydneyredcarpet).

陳冠穎, unfortunately there has been a last minute change and Leo won't be attending the Sydney premiere :( The rest are still coming though. You could join us at the red carpet on May 22 at Hoyts Entertainment Quarter. Come early (latest 4-5pm) to get good spot. Red carpet starts at 6pm :)

How early is suitable? Is arriving at ~noon guaranteed a spot?

Anon, we will be posting a guide to attending red carpet events in a day or so, but depending on the event's popularity, crowd starts gathering from 12-3pm. You need to get on the first line alongside the red carpet to have a chance for an autograph / picture taken with the stars.

We usually arrive at 2.30-3pm and manage to get a photograph with the stars. The wait is long and usually the red carpet starts late, so bring stuffs with you to keep occupied. We'll see you there :)
